As a Security Specialist at the GS-0080-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Oversees a security and counterintelligence program that provides proficient and authoritative guidance and knowledge to support decision-makers in achieving overall security objectives and priorities
  • Reviews, analyzes, evaluates and maintains the integrity and protection of highly sensitive information and programs under the security cognizance of the Site
  • Advisor/consultant to the Eglin Field Site Chief on all Counterintelligence (Cl) and Security related issues, including Physical Security, Information Security, Personnel Security, Operational Security, CI and the management of all Special Access Programs
  • Engages in activities that may include high-level interaction in public and private forums with senior leaders and officials in federal, state and local government agencies.
  • Oversees the implementation of National and DoD policies and procedures, Executive Orders, and other government agency requirements

You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service: * Experience gathering information and conducting activities to protect against security threats; identifying critical program information and developing mitigation strategies to protect the program information from foreign terrorist activities; communicating security and counterintelligence information to senior leadership and agency officials; developing security and counterintelligence policies, standard operating procedures, and implementation plans

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.


Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
