DRS Airborne & Intelligence Systems, Fort Walton Beach, FLprovides engineering, manufacturing, and support of defense and aerospace systems for sea, land, air, and space use. Title: Lead Quality Assurance Technician
Position Summary:
Assist with Quality systems development and support continuous improvement of product/process quality. Provide technical support on complex components, devices, material, products, processes and/or equipment.
*Duties and Responsibilities: *
Responsible for assisting with quality systems development and supporting continuous improvement activities for product and processes
Supports customer audits.
Responsible for maintaining calibration program. Maintains calibrations records, coordinates internal recall and calibration of equipment that is in the calibration system, and interacts with calibration service providers as needed to solicit required services
Monitors and reports on the organizations performance to the requirements of the FOD and ESD programs
6S Program coordination/involvement.
Performs complex inspection activities, to assess conformance of products to the design as defined by the engineering drawings and/or models
Inspects products, components, subassemblies, and/or systems to ensure conformance to requirements
Generate discrepancy notices and administrate Material Review Board actions
Prepares data package, creates schedule requests and host source inspections by Customer and GSI representatives
Adds organizational value by implementing innovative solutions and best practices involved in all processes of the product realization value stream
Supports Quality Engineers and other functions with identifying nonconforming conditions that present existing or impending defective conditions at the system or subsystem level of assembly
Analyze data and assist with implementation of continuous improvements on products & processes
Perform material movement transactions after completing inspection process
Interpret and follow written documents such as SOPs and safety rules
Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements applicable to the company in accordance with State and Federal regulations and any applicable certification required to maintain the certification
Assist in training new team members
Interface with other departments to assure efficient flow of information and materials
Troubleshoot/Diagnose cause of malfunction or failure of materials and/or equipment and suggests preventative and corrective measures.
Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
Basic Qualifications:
Must have experience in the calibration process and fully understand the requirements specified in ISO9000/AS9100
Working knowledge of Quality Management System - IS09000/AS9100. Internal audit experience a plus.
Must have experience in analysis of data using quality tools such as 5Why, 8D, pareto charts, histograms…
Ability to create and present information/data analysis results that is informative and understandable
Ability to read and interpret component/part drawings and effectively apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to assure compliance to customer requirements
Ability to use various measurement devices (calipers, pin gauges, go/no-go gauges, etc) to verify mechanical part compliance
In-depth understanding of relevant manufacturing standards (J-Std-001 / IPC-A-610 / IPC-A-620). Certification a plus
Must demonstrate strong decision-making and leadership skills.
Experienced in the use of various computer applications, including Access, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint
Experience with CostPoint and Deltek MES.
Experience using a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Optical comparator or other complex inspection systems is desired
