BAE Systems Software Engineering Supervisor in Fort Walton Beach, Florida
Provide technical leadership and guidance for software engineering, development activities.
Establish overall goals and high standards of performance, create budgets, staffing requirements, and short and long term strategic plans for continuous improvement of software development activities.
Establish required management systems and provide leadership to assure the effective performance of work, close monitoring of cost and schedule, and take timely and effective corrective action.
Establish communication to keep management informed of the function s progress and results.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish systems and software development processes and procedures within assigned product scope.
Evolve processes to utilize the most effective new techniques as they become available, assuring the use of methodologies which minimize both design cost and product cost.
Manage the distribution of promotions, salary increases and other rewards to provide effective motivation and reward for the assigned employees with particular emphasis on recognizing/rewarding strong team contributions.
Provide, directly or indirectly, top level technical leadership for the assigned design discipline(s) including selection and exploitation of promising new technologies, long-term goals, etc.
Ensure effective communication between assigned engineers and all other participants in the design process.
Work closely with the Program Management and Business Development organizations to identify, define, and capture program opportunities consistent with the LOB s strategic objectives.
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelor s degree from an accredited college / university in a related discipline with a minimum 6 years of experience, including supervision/management experience. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or SW Engineering. Equivalent non-degreed in a related discipline with a minimum 10 years of experience.
Experience with software and systems engineering processes, methodologies, and tools
Experience in Software development environment. Preferred experience in C, C and C# in Windows. C and C in Unix/Linux environments. Understanding of command and control systems is desired.
Experience performing software testing, validation, and verification activities
Previous experience in project leadership role or functional management
Demonstrated ability to develop, lead, and motivate technical teams
Regularly interacts with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers.
Ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive situations, without damage to the relationship.
Implements strategic policies when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results to avoid critical delay(s) in schedules and/or unit operations that may jeopardize overall business activities.
