Navy Federal Credit Union Cyber Security Intern in Pensacola, Florida

Basic Purpose

Information Security is seeking an intern in Pensacola to support the team in protecting Navy Federal information systems assets; detecting and resolving exposures; and ensuring secured member and employee access, information integrity, and minimization of financial risk.To be eligible you must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in cyber security.The hours are flexible to fit with the student’s academic schedule, minimum 20-40 hours per week.Learning ObjectivesTechnical Skill Development:• Recognizing the evolving nature of security threats• Supporting the team to:• Monitor and maintain enterprise security environment• Analyze and evaluate security architecture, policies, procedures & tools• Applying security standards and best practices to make recommendations• Exploring new skill generationCritical Thinking and Business Understanding:• Tracking the impact of internal business decisions and their results• Understanding the competitive market forces that impact the company’s business• Supporting assumptions and analytical discoveries with underlying research• Understanding business processes and opportunities for enhancementsCommunication and Managing Projects:• Explaining research findings in written and oral presentations• Working in a collaborative team setting to accomplish long-term projects• Keeping team management informed of progress while working independently• Developing project timelines to meet expected deadlines• Supporting and managing relationships with internal business partnersResponsibilities:• Performs work in support of the Cyber Security group• Applies knowledge gained from degree program in day-to-day duties/responsibilities• May receive guidance and direction from management and / or senior-level staff• Leverage technical knowledge and skill• Works within established standards, change control, policies and procedures• Provides exceptional customer serviceRequired Qualifications:• Ability to present findings and conclusions clearly and concisely• Ability to exercise initiative, produce desired results and achieve objectives• Effective attention to detail• Effective research, analytical, and problem solving skills• Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including skill in in negotiating and persuading others• Experience which demonstrates a high degree of maturity, objectivity, tact, integrity and sound judgment• Ability to apply sound judgment in analyzing and organizing problems• Effective planning, organizational, and multi-tasking skills• Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of a team with a cooperative, positive attitude• Experience with PCs and related software such as Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, etc.)
